“The thrill of hope, a weary world rejoices…..”
There is a response to hope. Hope brings with it a reaction.
Hope doesn't cause stagnation. Hope is kinetic. Hope is catalytic. There are
more reactions than can be calculated, but for sure, His goodness is a
statement of causality.
At Jesus' conception, hope caused a song. Mary sang. At His birth, a song broke forth. The angles
sang. Hope unlocks songs. "Sweet hymns of joy a grateful chorus
raise" is what explodes in hearts once awakened to the present reality of
hope. Deferred hope, or hope put off to a later time, makes hearts sick, but
when we embrace that hope is here it sends the heart to singing. A famous
Christmas hymn says "sing in exultation". It's the natural effect of
realizing the present reality of hope. Our hearts erupt as we embrace that we
HAVE this hope. It births boldness (2Cor3:12).
The statement
"sing in exultation" makes me ask a couple questions:
1) Why sing?
2) Why in
exultation?
When a heart bursts forth in song it's a signal of joy,
gladness, or a thrill. Hearts sing when strong emotions emerge. Some hearts
carry the songs of mourning, but hope erases those songs and unlocks
"sweet hymns of joy". "A grateful chorus" is then raised as
an announcement that hope is here and your song can change.
The singing isn't just to carry a tune in a bucket. The
singing has a purpose. The song points to what is larger than itself. It's a
sign, a signal. The singing of joy is a directional arrow. These songs are to lift up what causes the
songs. It's an exultation of what has affected our heart. Jesus, the Father's
expression of love, unlocks faith that rebirths, reshapes, and renews our
heart. Our songs of joy are the exultation of Father as they demonstrate what
we’ve recognized in Jesus; He is good.
Let the songs
come. Let the carols rise. Let the sweet hymns of joy fill our hearts, our
homes, and our streets. "For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn". The “new day” has dawned. Hope is here.
Newness is here. His goodness prevailed!
The True Revelation of Father showed us His heart. His heart is for us,
not against. Sing. Sing the songs of hope. Let your heart rejoice. We are living the effects of hope!
